Vanguard Care is a Founder Member of an exciting new venture in the homecare industry, the Live-in Care Hub.
Live-in homecare is very much a small, almost unknown peripheral branch of the far larger domiciliary care industry in the UK, the latter being what we call the provision of ‘hourly care’ - or very often 10 minute care sometimes, as provided by thousands of agencies on behalf of social services and local councils. It is that end of our care industry (together with nursing and residential homes) which suffers the bad publicity of Panorama-type programmes - and rightly so.
Our own live-in care service is not well-known but should be, because it offers a real alternative to residential care and can be more cost-effective than utilising an ‘hourly-care’ provider several times a day. The problem is that many healthcare professionals, including GP’s and social workers, are not aware that there is a cost-effective alternative, which is rather surprising given the enormous squeeze on public health finances and hospital beds.
A staggering 97% of people do not want to go into a care home if they become ill or less able to cope. Yet in these days of fragmented families and frantic lifestyles, many people believe that being ‘shipped off’ to one is unavoidable. Accordingly, Vanguard joined up with another 12 leading live-in care agencies to raise the awareness of the alternative by forming the Live-in Care Hub, and our website www.liveincarehub.co.uk has been developed as a valuable resource for both the general public and healthcare professionals.
Live-in homecare is growing in popularity, but people still do not know enough about it as a viable and affordable alternative. Vanguard Care and its partners are united in the goal of raising awareness about the high quality of care provided by this unique and very positive alternative to care homes.
